The new Asian champions, Guangzhou Evergrande, will face Egypt's Al Ahly at the quarterfinals of the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup, after Al Ahly seized the 2013 Confederation of African Football Champions League trophy by defeating the Orlando Pirates of South Africa on Sunday.
The FIFA Club World Cup is a tournament among the champion clubs from each of the six continental soccer confederations as well as the league winners from the host nation. The 2013 event will be hosted in Morocco from December 11 to 21.
The quarterfinals are scheduled on December 14, and if Evergrande can defeat the African champions, they will have a chance to challenge Bayern -Munich, the champions of Europe.
Other participants of the Club World Cup include Atletico Mineiro of Brazil and Monterrey of Mexico.
